QUICK BITS
🏠 $830K Boost for Housing
Seven more affordable units are coming to 681 Monaghan Rd. thanks to $830,015 in new funding from the federal and provincial governments. The six-storey building already adds 53 units for vulnerable residents, and this latest investment pushes the total support for the project to over $1.6 million.
Officials say the goal is simple: safe, stable housing for families and individuals who need it most. Mayor Jeff Leal called the development a major step in tackling PTBO’s housing challenges.
🎨 Artsweek Takes Over the City
Starting this Sunday, Peterborough turns into one big stage. Artsweek runs Sept. 28–Oct. 5 with free performances and installations popping up in parks, plazas, porches, and other unexpected spots. Expect live music, dance, aerial acts, poetry carts, giant puppets, and even surprise shows in places you’d never think to look.
The launch party happens at Millennium Park with performances, art, cake, and face painting, plus a proclamation from City Hall. After that, the whole week is packed with over 100 artists transforming everyday spaces into art encounters you just stumble into.
🚦 Have Your Say: Fairbairn & Towerhill
The city wants your thoughts on upgrades to one of PTBO’s busiest intersections. Plans call for new traffic lights, turn lanes, safer crosswalks, and even a multi-use trail along Lily Lake Road. Work would roll out in phases starting with design in 2025 and construction by 2027.
