Peterborough Transit has resumed operations at three bays along Simcoe Street downtown. Routes 11 Water, 10 Technology, 12 Otonabee, 4 Weller, and 6 Sherbrooke are back at the terminal, while all other routes will stay at temporary stops for at least another week. Transit Ambassadors are on site to help riders adjust.
🏭 GE Demolition Plans
GE Vernova is moving ahead with plans to tear down most of the old GE plant on Park Street North, leaving just eight buildings standing. The mayor says offices with 60 engineers, BWXT’s fuel bundle facility, and a few heritage structures will be preserved, while the towering power plant chimney is slated to come down over safety concerns. The company says demolition is in early stages, with public consultations promised before work begins. (Examiner$)
