TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, PTBO! We were gonna start this Brief with something profound about the change of seasons… but then we remembered the real reason we’re here: free events, good food, and mild gossip. Let’s skip the philosophy and get to the fun.

In today’s PTBO Brief:

  • 🎃 Halloween in the Booro Returns

  • 🥫 Porch Pirates for Good

  • 🎊Your Halloween event lineup

Let's get to it.

QUICK BITS

🎃 Halloween in the Booro Returns

Downtown’s about to get spooky this Saturday from 4–6 PM as the DBIA hosts its annual Halloween in the Booro across downtown and East City. Over 45 local businesses will be handing out treats while costumed characters roam George Street. Swing by the Family Zone for a Halloween-themed photo booth and costume contests for kids, adults, and even pets — a sweet way to spend the evening.

🥫 Porch Pirates for Good

This Saturday starting at 9 AM, Kawartha Food Share’s “Porch Pirates” will be pillaging Peterborough for a cause. Residents are asked to leave bags of non-perishable food on their porches for pickup, helping refill KFS shelves as demand hits record highs. Top items include peanut butter, canned goods, cereal, and hygiene products — or make a cash donation to triple your impact.

🏘️ Tribunal Shuts Down PATH Appeal

The Ontario Land Tribunal has dismissed Peterborough Action for Tiny Homes’ appeal to build 24 sleeping cabins at 385 Lansdowne St. E. The ruling found the project inconsistent with planning guidelines, classifying the cabins as residential dwellings rather than an institutional use. The decision sides with nearby Toromont Industries, citing land-use compatibility and noise concerns — another setback for PATH’s proposed tiny home community.

THE BORO BUSINESS
