QUICK BITS

📚 Fleming Strike Ends

After five weeks on the picket line, support staff at Ontario colleges including Fleming are heading back to work Thursday. A weekend mediation led to a tentative deal between the College Employer Council and OPSEU, with members set to vote on ratification by Nov. 4.

🏒 Petes Ink Defenceman Calum Hartnell

The Peterborough Petes have signed 2007-born blueliner Calum Hartnell to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. Drafted in 2023, Hartnell impressed with Carleton Place last season and made his Petes debut in March. He’ll be back on home ice Thursday as the Petes host Oshawa for Rivalry Week.

🚐 Trent & PCHC Hit the Road for Rural Health

Trent University and the Peterborough Community Health Centre have launched a new Community Health Outreach vehicle to bring primary care to rural and Indigenous communities across the county. Staffed by a nurse practitioner and Trent/Fleming Nursing students, the mobile unit will visit Havelock, Ennismore, and Hiawatha First Nation twice a week, offering care, education, and harm reduction supplies.
