Good morning, PTBO! We spent the week trying to track down the Oldies 96.7 Fugitive - no luck. But hey, at least I got to enjoy some crisp fall air and pretend I was in an action movie. Here’s what’s actually worth chasing this week 👇

In today’s PTBO Brief:

  • 🔥 Scrap Yard Sparks Fly

  • 🥍 Excalibur Reign Supreme

  • 🌊 Coming Down The River

Let's get to it.

QUICK BITS

🔥 Scrap Yard Sparks Fly

Emergency crews rushed to Peterborough Iron & Metal yesterday afternoon after a fire broke out behind Lansdowne Place. A thick plume of smoke rolled over the mall before firefighters had things under control about an hour later. Police asked folks to steer clear of The Queensway and, if you live nearby, hopefully you kept those windows shut till the air cleared.

🥍 Excalibur Reign Supreme

The Trent Excalibur women’s lacrosse squad are once again OUA champs, hoisting the Patterson Cup in Waterloo over the weekend. After crushing McMaster 17–2, they took down Laurier 14–6 in the semis before sealing the deal with an 8–4 win over Queen’s in Sunday’s final.

Rookie of the Year Maddy Baxter netted a hat-trick, while hometown hero Abby Hiltz and keeper Kieran Gerow both snagged top OUA honours. This marks Trent’s fourth title in program history - and next year, they’ll defend it right here at home at Justin Chiu Stadium.

🌊 Coming Down The River
