The Canadian Canoe Museum just secured a $150,000 Ontario Trillium Foundation grant to expand and rebuild its volunteer program at the new waterfront location. The funding helped hire a Volunteer Coordinator, create new roles like Exhibition Attendant and Tour Guide, and support training, equipment, and community outreach.
It’s all about strengthening the roots of the museum and the people who keep it moving

Workers at Sherbrooke Heights have voted unanimously in favour of strike action after wage talks stalled. CUPE 5129 says staff are dealing with chronic understaffing and wages stuck barely above minimum, even for longtime employees.
The vote is meant to push management back to the table with a fair offer.

The Bulk Water Fill Station on Milroy Drive is up and running again after maintenance and repairs.

🎉 Salvation Army Thrift Store Opens Downtown: The Salvation Army is expanding its footprint with a brand new thrift store on George Street. The shop offers affordable pre-loved items for all ages, with proceeds supporting local programs and reducing textile waste. Opening day on November 27 will feature treats, giveaways, coupons, and a first look inside the new space.

🍻 Publican House Reopens with a Fresh Look: Publican House Peterborough is officially back open, sporting an updated space, a refreshed menu, and the familiar atmosphere regulars love. The team is easing into opening week with a mix of new and returning staff, and they’re asking for a little patience as they settle in.

🚚 Big Hearts & Big Rigs Blood Drive: Keene Truck Inc. is teaming up with Canadian Blood Services for a quick drop-in donation hour. If you’ve got a bit of time and a big heart, they could use you in the chair. 1 PM Canadian Blood Services
